Absolutely, I recommend that everyone get a little booklet that tells you how many calories there are in different things we eat and drink. Don't forget to look at the calories listed on processed food and beverage items. The important thing to remember is that about 3,600 calories are in a pound of stored fat. So, let's do the math. If you ate an extra 150 calories every day, more than what you can burn off as energy, for example a slice of buttered bread, or glass of wine or beer, or can of soda, then multiplied by 365 days, every year you will have consumed an extra 54,750 calories which divided by 3,600 calories in a pound of stored fat and you will have gained about 15 pounds of fat. I am not going to discuss good calories vs bad calories other than to say, if it's processed food, or the ingredients have added sugar such as corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, or even cane sugar — sugar, then it probably is void or very low in nutrients compared to the healthy food calories you're consuming.
